Curacao is one of the ABC islands, off the coast of Venezuela. It just recently gained its country status in 2010 gaining independence from Holland. You will see a lot of Dutch influence mixed with the local culture. English is wildly spoken but most locals speak 3 languages.
For me, the main reason and the highlight of the trip was the visit to the Dolphin Academy, but there is so much to do. Hiking in the Christoffel National Park, walking among the colorful houses in downtown Williamstad, exploring sunken shipwrecks and hanging out with turtles are just a few of many activities you can indulge in.
