Come with me as I explore Mackinac Island, MI! On the way, we make stops at Boyne City, Lake Charlevoix, St. Ignas, and Mackinaw City!! A couple of restaurants stood out... Cafe Santé in Boyne City and El Zarape in Mackinaw City! Also, we took a trip to Headlands International Dark Sky Park, which was pretty remarkable! They are in the midst of adding a huge parking lot to accommodate a lot more visitors!
We walked about 15 miles in 2 days! But, there are other ways to get around the city and island if you choose to. There are shuttles in the city and horse-drawn carriages, bikes, and even scooters for people on the island! No cars or anything gas-powered is allowed on the island. Which is part of what makes being on the island so unique!!
We visited the Grand Hotel, The Original Mackinac Island Butterfly House & Insect World, Rented a tandem bike(so much fun), and climbed 207 steps up to Arch Rock!! I was impressed with the added amenities at the top since my last visit in 2007. There's an awesome lookout and bathrooms. An added bonus after all my morning coffee, lol.
We took Shepler's Ferry across to the island. I highly recommend them, leaving and arriving in Mackinaw City. We stayed at Baymont by Wyndham Mackinaw City. I would also recommend them. Fair prices and great service! Thank you all for coming along on this adventure. I'm looking forward to more to come!!
