This is a typical vocalization for me of the whole singing voice. 3 1/2 Octaves in real voice, no falsetto, no fry tones on the bottom. These were done today Sept. 28, 2014 when I am 66 years old. If we add a falsetto on top the range goes to over four, and if we add grumble fry tones on the bottom, we get almost 5. But those sounds do not count because they could not be used on stage. Most male opera singers have a range of two octaves. The lowest note here is low A 1 and the highest note is High D 5, in normal singing voice. I begin with the Grand Inquisitor's "Sire" and vocalize down from there, then the whole voice. This was recorded on a Sony SM58 microphone in my studio room. This is a very simple microphone. A better microphone would have produced better results.
