NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has withstood pressure to institute a mask mandate, after Victoria reintroduced a mandatory requirement on Thursday.
She was asked about whether she would introduce a mask mandate at a press conference after announcing a further 10 COVID-19 cases had been found in Sydney.
Ms Berejiklian and Chief Medical Officer Dr Kerry Chant said they 'highly recommended' masks, but declined to introduce a mandate.
"Can I stress again if you're in an indoor place, if you're going grocery shopping, if you're in a place of worship, you ... should be wearing a mask," she said.
Earlier Thursday morning Victoria's Acting Premier Jacinta Allan said masks would become mandatory indoors, except for homes.
