BIOPHARMING - is the use of plants and animals for the production of variety of proteins that are used as drugs, vaccines, and diagnostic agents in humans as well as animals. It is also called as molecular farming.
Example include Golden rice, Human milk proteins, transgenic potato, transgenic tomato, transgenic maize, transgenic rice, transgenic tobacco, transgenic vegetables and fruits. Plants genetically engineered to produce therapeutic proteins, monoclonal antibodies and vaccines to treat cancer, inflammatory diseases and other life-threatening conditions.
