This video shows the Antares star in unprecedented detail for an amateur telescope. The orange red star Antares, is about 12 times the mass of our own sun. In this short video using still images of the milky way, Rho Ophiuchi and the Antares star region within the Rho complex, we see that Antares is surrounded by many smaller stars, and has a huge surrounding plume of ejected material, forming a corona like appearance. This is apparently caused by the expanding wind from the star, creating a chromosphere. The close up images of Antares were long exposures taken at a very dark site, using my personal Vaonis Vespera 11 smart telescope. The added music is called "peaceful rain" it is kindly made available for use copyright free by Hayden-Folker.
