Bach Prelude 1, The Well-Tempered Clavier
Musical analysis:
The prelude starts in C major. After presenting the main theme in C, it leaves the initial tonality by modulating to G major. After several measures in G it cancels F# and returns back to the main tonality. The ending section of the prelude is built of a dominant pedal point followed by a tonic pedal point, ending the piece in the main tonality of C major.
