Calm surface winds paired with local burning from wood stoves have caused air quality around the metro to toggle from moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups. An Air Quality Alert is in effect across the valley towards to coast for reduced air quality at times through noon Saturday. Check with your county for wood burning restrictions.
The weekend stays dry with highs in the low to mid 50s. Breezy east winds Saturday will help to mix out trapped smoke and fog. Metro area wind gusts may reach 25-35 mph by Saturday afternoon. Crown Point will be the magnet for gusts up to 70+. Through Monday, areas in the gorge near Hood River will likely be under an inversion, trapping clouds and potentially freezing fog as overnight lows end in the upper 20s.
By Thanksgiving, we'll introduce a chance for rain and mountain snow across the region starting Wednesday and lasting through the holiday weekend.
