The annual NTSB list of most wanted safety improvements again includes general aviation this year, and again focuses on loss of control. Much progress has been made improving safety and reducing accidents in recent years.
Flying clubs do much more than to rent aircraft at lower cost, though that is often the reason that pilots join in the first place. We visited one club (among many) where the enthusiasm is infectious.
