Wooden penny/ Irish whistles are great for airs; particularly this one made by Mr. Tyrone Head of TheFluteMaker.com. This fipple flute made of katalox hardwood with brass ferules. It is very responsive and can play well into the third octave. The tone of the whistle is sweet and woodsy making them very suitable for slower pieces despite the high pitch.
Playing along to Marion McLean of Eoligary, sometimes known as "Slow Air". Back track by Ally Mackenzie and Colin Melville from the album: Fits o' Giggles.
