“Toward 3D Nanoprinted Microcapsules for Controlled Drug Delivery”
Ruben Acevedo, University of Maryland, College Park
Ruben Acevedo is a 4th-year Mechanical Engineering PhD student in Prof. Ryan Sochol's Bioinspired Advanced Manufacturing (BAM) Laboratory at the University of Maryland, College Park. In this seminar, Ruben will discuss his recent efforts using the submicron-scale additive manufacturing (or “3D printing”) technology, “Direct Laser Writing” (alternatively, “two-photon laser lithography”), to engineer 3D microcapsules (e.g., liquid-core-shell microparticles) that could someday be used for drug delivery applications requiring precise dosage of medicines and therapeutic agents, such as for cancer vaccines.
