In 2004 Sonia Gandhi built the UPA to take down the BJP Govt led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In 2023 a different version of the UPA seems to be taking shape but without the Congress being the lynchpin of this new alliance. Though the opposition unity that was seen in Patna has come under question, but there is no doubt about the fact that there are many parties, including the Congress who are willing to join forces to take down PM Modi led BJP Govt. But will an alliance of parties like TMC, BRS & AAP who harbour pan India political ambitions, work? And most importantly, will this also mark the end of UPA and along with it the clout of Congress? In this episode of One Take, News18's Pallavi Ghosh takes a closer look at what the formation of this new alliance could mean for the Congress and India's political narrative.
