We are rescuing so many deserving little bats like this one right now that we do not have time to post as often as we would like. This precious little one arrived today. Her wing is severely injured so she will likely never fly well enough to be released. She has received pain medication and has a full tummy and us resting with other free-tailed orphans now. Free-tailed bats live 15 to 20 years - this little one will receive lifetime care with us.
If you find a bat please remember to use gloves or a towel when rescuing him/her as the bat will be frightened and may bite in self-defense. (We are trained and vaccinated to handle bats so we sometimes use bare hands as it allows better tactile sensitivity and control.)
