Learn how to pipe a basic 5 petal flower in this easy-to-follow short tutorial.
This type of flower is a great filler flower for your cakes, cupcakes and cookies. Once you master how to use tip 104, you can pipe a variety of different flowers. My top tip is to make sure that you pipe with the narrow end pointing up and slightly raised from the surface so that it creates a nice frilly petal.
I am using royal icing in this tutorial but the technique also works well with buttercream icing.
You will need:
Stiff consistency icing (pink and yellow)
Flower nail
Parchment squares
Piping bags
Tip 104 for petals
Tip 1.5 for the pollen (or use a tipless bag with small hole)
Please note that I am left-handed so you will need to mirror the technique if you are piping with your right hand.
