ASIN TUNNELS
These Tunnels were constructed during
the time of spanish colonizers by their
prisoners of war, sometime in the 2nd half of
the 19th century,
these were purposely built to form part of the
supposed railroad system that was to connect the
existing railroad in Damortis, La Union and Baguio City.
Later, the Americans, at the start of 20th Century
improved the road and the tunnels while constructing
the nearby and still operational mini hydro plants
that supplies electric power to the City of Baguio.
Tunnels 1 & 2 are 96 and 158 meters long
respectively, with a height of about 7 meters.
Safe for any kind of vehicle, not a crack
is found even after the killer quake in July 16, 1990
