In this highlight, Dr. Cloud asks, “What’s your cadence of self-observation?” How often do you check in with how you’re doing? There’s a connection between how often people check in on their states of affairs, and how successful and happy they are. The healthiest, highest performing people do ongoing significant self-observation. Whether it’s professional, medical, relational, financial, or otherwise, there needs to be a cadence to your assessments. Have you checked in clinically and measured your stress and anxiety? Relationally ask yourself: how are your relationships going with family, friends, and employees? If you can observe a problem before it gets out of hand you can fix it with greater ease.
