The German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, met with the French President, Emmanuel Macron, and the Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, in Berlin on Friday to discuss ongoing support for Ukraine, including providing weapons.
The leaders agreed to continue aid and use frozen Russian assets to purchase weapons for Ukraine. Tusk emphasized Poland's commitment to assisting Ukraine.
With Ukraine's military facing ammunition shortages and Western assistance depleting, Kyiv has recently encountered a series of setbacks on the battlefield. Macron affirmed ongoing support, stressing that Europe's security is at stake.
However, Scholz has been more cautious, ruling out the deployment of Germany's Taurus cruise missiles, but affirming Germany's support for Ukraine.
Macron's recent suggestion of Western troop deployment to Ukraine has sparked opposition from several European nations. Russia has also issued a warning, stating that deploying troops to Ukraine could lead to direct conflict between NATO and Russia.
