Barcolana stands as a legendary icon among regattas, celebrated as the largest sailing race in the world.
The 2023 edition saw an astounding participation of over 1,770 sailboats.
The race unfolds in the enchanting northeast of Italy, in Trieste, a region renowned for its unique weather, often swept by the fierce Bora wind.
Not only is the race a legend in its own right but it is also surrounded by breathtaking panoramas.
The organization is impeccable, with the village (located in the heart of Trieste) buzzing with street food, shops, and much more.
This edition was marked by a gentle breeze, demanding exceptional technical skill.
Our final result was immensely satisfying, given the conditions.
We proudly secured 7th position overall and 2nd in our class, sailing on our 40-foot boat (approximately 12 meters), Sayonara.
As in every race, a strong start was vital for a shot at victory. Our tactician was intensely focused on achieving the best start possible, and he nailed it.
We launched from the front line, strategically positioned to avoid obstructions and catch fresh air.
