Dutch farmers blocked supermarket distribution hubs in several cities on Monday 4th July to protest government proposals that could force them to use less fertilizer and their use of livestock. Activist groups used tractors to block highways in the northern Netherlands, and in response, the Dutch police opened fire. The growing protests have prompted MP, Caroline van der Plas to hold an "emergency debate" with Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte and Minister of Justice and Security, Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius.
