TOP THINGS TO DO IN PARAGUAY! Save this post bc idk when I’m going to have time to write a blog any time soon 😬
First: I was told there’s not much to do in Paraguay, even by locals, but I found plenty of things anyway like this beautiful waterfall!
Second: the main two cities are far apart from each other! You could technically fly, but I wanted to see some things along the way so I researched and found MyDayTrip which drove me across the entire country, until I took the ferry to Argentina!
Ok onward!
ASUNCIÓN: Is the capital and main city people fly into. There’s some pretty buildings, a river that offers boat tours, the colorful steps in my last post, and a cute downtown area with lots of restaurants and bars. My favorite though was a rooftop pool/restaurant/bar called Gitano!
CIUDAD DEL ESTE: as the name implies (if you can translate it) is the city in the east, right at the border of Brazil and Argentina. It is actually most known for being the “shopping center of South America”, with tons of knockoff clothing and electronics that people buy to bring back to Brazil and sell for more….now regretting not looking for a new phone there…

Near Ciudad del Este is where you’ll find this waterfall called #saltosmonday ! It’s beautiful and there likely won’t be many other people there.
You can also see the Hitos Tres Fronteras (translation: “milestone of three borders”), which the name implies again, is where Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil all meet and are separated by the Iguazu River.
You can cross by car into Brazil or cross by ferry for $2 into Argentina! Or the other way around, just be sure to go through immigration!
Speaking of which: Argentina for some reason is no longer stamping passports (they think it’s faster), and their currency is recently devalued, so bring big bill USD with no marks or tears to exchange on the “blue market” (rate should be around 280 pesos = $1)
Lmk if posts like these are helpful or if you’d prefer to see bullet points in the video!
