One of the methods I do regularly with my students is work through an etude at a slower tempo, clean as much as possible, and then raise the tempo. This is a very common practice, usually with the use of a metronome. When playing jazz etudes, I use the metronome on beats two and four. Other times, I use the app DrumGenius, or in this case, the app IRealPro.
I play along with my students so they can match my style and make sure all of the notes and rhythms are correct!
*I do want to add that this was my first attempt at recording with a play-along and using headphones. I actually had an audio latency as well as an issue hearing myself even with my sax as loud as possible in my mix. So I apologize for time issues. I will figure out the latency issue soon I think. I ended up just having to keep time as best possible just hearing myself. You can see in the video I slowly release more of my ear to hear myself instead of inside the headphones.*
