This short video is designed to assist marine radio operators in obtaining a VHF Marine Radio Licence and/or a Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) number.

Having a marine radio licence is a requirement when:
1. You are operating a marine radio,
2. If you need to register a Digital Selective Calling (DSC) and obtain an MMSI number
3. If you are applying for a marine qualification such as a Coxswain or Master
4. You are sailing in an organised yacht race or
5. You are hiring a yacht overseas

The marine radio licence is required by both recreational and commercial boat operators.
