In this segment that aims to provide gimpses of Tamil culture through epics and history, we are presenting stories from the Periyapuranam, a compliation of the life history of the 63 saints, known as Nayanmars , who lived in the Tamil country during variuos periods from 1st centurey AD to about 8th century AD. Sung by the poet Sekkizhar , the series starts with the narration of the life history of the author Sekkizhar himself. A major epic that preaches Saivite doctrine that captures the essence of an ancient Living Tradition.
