Lymphodepletion is a critical part of the CAR T-cell therapy process, and knowing the levels of drugs such as fludarabine in the blood of the patient allows for adjustment of drug doses during this process. However, measuring blood fludarabine levels is costly and logistically challenging. Pere Barba, MD, PhD, Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, Barcelona, Spain, discusses the findings of a study that assessed whether estimated exposure using a mathematical model is an accurate surrogate for measured fludarabine levels in CAR T-cell patients.
