Thank you for joining me for Episode 1 of the June's Take podcast. I want to start by sharing some reflections I've been contemplating for a while. It's been 30 years since the establishment of democracy and freedom in South Africa. This milestone has set the stage for incredible potential in our country. However, I believe that we need to focus on getting the basics right and building a strong foundation to truly realize this potential.
Unfortunately, we are not there yet. It feels as though our politics are stuck in a cycle, with very few reforms being implemented. Economic growth remains stagnant, and our society seems to be turning against itself—crime is becoming increasingly brutal and violent.
