Here are some amazing statistics from a recent novice junior tennis tournament. The average set consists of 55 points. Nothing new there. And, the average point lasted 3 hits, including the serve. Nothing new there. BUT, what percentage of all shots hit by each player was their own serve? A whopping 45%. Yes, 45%. Now, that includes both first serves missed and the subsequent second serves. No question about it. The serve is the most prominent shot in the game.
