On the Baldauf farm in the German Alps, the family has increased their herd size from 40 to 70 cows. Nevertheless, they have less work to do in the barn today than they had before. They save most time thanks to the automatic feeding system – DeLaval Optimat™.
Now feeding only takes 20 minutes a day for Bernhard Baldauf. But time savings are not the only benefit of the system. The cows eat more and there are fewer leftovers, which is better for their health and better for the Baldauf farm’s profits.
The automatic feeding system runs throughout the day at timed intervals. Small meals are better for the cows’ digestion and it is healthier than having just one large meal.
The feed is always fresh and the cows eat almost everything, reducing the amount of leftovers.
