PREVIOUSLY ON FINAL FANTASY VI ADVANCE:

Woah boy, that one was a doozy. The World of Balance, as we know it, came to an end when the Warring Triad were moved out of their alignment. Their magic went wild and caused mass chaos and destruction across the world. The continents and oceans shift formation, many people are killed, and magic mutates and transforms the animals. The game is now about halfway done and now enters the third act. What's going to happen?

IN THIS CHAPTER:

This is a unique part of the game where you have a scenario with two different outcomes. However, there's no real gain/loss for either outcome.
Cid is sick and he hasn't eaten for three days! The guy figured out how to artificially infuse soldiers with magic, but I guess making a potion is above his pay grade. So it's our job to help him feel better by feeding him the fast-moving 'delicious fish' . If you're doubtful, you can check what kind of fish you got in the Rare items section of your items. But beware, there's no way to get rid of a bad fish, other than giving it to Cid to eat. Cid starts with a certain amount of health that ticks down for every second. It also goes up/down depending on the fish you feed him.

Here's a breakdown:
Slow-Moving: A fish (-16)
Medium-Moving: A rotten/foul-tasting fish (-4)
Medium - Just a fish/An ordinary fish (+16)
Fast - A yummy/delicious fish (+32)

What's crazy about this is that a 'foul-tasting' or 'rotten' fish is actually better than 'a fish'. And an 'ordinary' fish is actually pretty decent. But it's really hard to discern between a rotten and ordinary fish. The text that he replies with when you talk to him is like a barometer of his health. As you can see, towards the end, I thought he was going back downhill again. But then I fed him a delicious fish and he was suddenly all better. Whew!

Now, some people seem to think the story is actually better when Cid dies. It has no impact on the story whatsoever, but it's true that Celes gets a few more lines of character development if Cid dies. My game will be saved with him living, but just for kicks... you'll see what happens when he dies in my next video!
