Watch Macky pack his Jamis DEFCON 1 Enduro bike with Shimano XT Di2 drivetrain into a Shimano Pro Bike Bag.
We have a lot of experience taking our bikes on airplanes. In the last two years alone, we've flown with our bikes to Chile, Scotland, New Zealand, Canada and Tasmania in addition to a few shorter, domestic trips. Needless to say, we're getting pretty good at it...
In this video we'll show you how we pack our bikes for airline travel and share a few of the tricks we've learned over the years. Things like how to pack your CO2 cartridges and how to keep your fork from moving around and destroying your headset during the rough handling.
We'll also show you some of the specific things to keep in mind if you're traveling with a Di2 (electronic shifting) bike. Things like how to make sure the wires don't get cut and how to secure the battery so it doesn't bounce around during the trip.
The Shimano Pro Bike Travel Case Mega Bag is the best bike travel bag we've ever used. The bike attaches to the cases internal frame using its thru axles and there is plenty of room for other bike gear like helmets and shoes. Each wheel has its own pocket and there are additional stash pockets for spare parts, pedals and other small items.
