We visited San Diego, CA, in February 2020. We were heading to Cabrillo National Monument when we spotted the tombstones, and we stopped to check them out.
We walked through the cemetery with very mixed feelings. On the one hand, the cemetery is beautiful: regular rows of snow-white tombstones with the background of the ocean, everything arranged nicely; green grass, flowers in bloom, beautiful trees. It is gorgeous. On the other hand, it makes us very sad - like all cemeteries - to see so many tombs at once and think that most of these people are war heroes is doubly tragic.
