Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Fixing Missing Gridlines in Excel: Common Issue & Solutions | MrExcel Podcast.
Welcome back to the MrExcel podcast. In this episode, we will be discussing a common issue that many Excel users face - missing gridlines in a specific range of their worksheet. This question was sent in by Phoebe, who attended one of my live seminars. She noticed that the gridlines were missing in one section of her spreadsheet and was unsure of how to fix it.
After some investigation, I discovered that the most likely cause of this issue is that at some point, someone had applied a color fill to the range and then later tried to remove it by selecting the same range and choosing white as the fill color. However, this does not remove the color, but rather applies a white fill, which hides the gridlines. The correct way to remove the color is to select the range and choose "No Fill" from the drop-down menu. This will allow the gridlines to show through.
Another possibility is that someone had applied borders to the range, which can also hide the gridlines. In this case, simply selecting "All Borders" will bring back the gridlines. If the gridlines are missing from the entire sheet, it is possible that the "Show Gridlines" option under the View tab has been unchecked.
Now, let's talk about the most obnoxious use of gridlines - changing their color. While most of us prefer the default light grey gridlines, some users may choose to change them to a different color. To do this, go to File, Options, Advanced, and scroll down to "Display options for this worksheet." Here, you can choose from a variety of gridline colors. However, be warned that changing the color to something like angry red may drive your co-workers crazy!
I want to thank Phoebe for sending in this question and I hope this solution helps others who may be facing the same issue. Thank you for tuning in to the MrExcel podcast, and don't forget to subscribe for more helpful Excel tips and tricks. See you next time!

Phoebe from Florida has a spreadsheet where gridlines are missing from just one section of the worksheet. Today, two theories on how that happened, how to fix it, and, since we are covering gridlines, how to toggle gridlines off and on for the whole workbook and how to change the gridlines to an annoying red color.
