STORYLINE
The Syrian capital Damascus was the scene of a heavy snowfall on Wednesday which blanketed the city and, at times, reduced visibility for drivers.
The snow which started at 02:00 Local time, (0000 GMT) stopped briefly on Wednesday morning before resuming again.
More patchy light snow is forecast for Wednesday evening.
The weather is part of a brutal winter weather system that is causing havoc across the Middle East.
It's magnified the misery for Syrians that have lived through violence since uprising began in March 2011.
The civil war has killed an estimated 60-thousand people in nearly two years of fighting.
