Lawyers and striking teachers on Friday (31/1) took to the streets of Belgrade to protest against the Serbian government of President Slobodan Milosevic.
Widening the protest to strike action, thousands of teachers called for the resignation of the education minister, payment of salaries as much as three months overdue and a rise in their pay.
Belgrade's striking lawyers joined the daily demonstration by university
students. The laywers are angry with the courts and the Justice Ministry for upholding Milosevic's annulment of the opposition Together coalition's victories in November's municipal elections.
