This 1953 XK120 FHC (Fixed Head Coupe) was one of 2672 built from 1951 to 1954. Few were kept in England, and most were shipped to the US, primarily California. Larry purchased this car in Portland, Oregon from its 2nd owner, who bought it from the original owner in California in 1954. XK was the engine designation and 120 was the claimed top speed of the car. The prior owner of this XK120 in Oregon was a sheet metal expert who loved the car, but made some “improvements” from the factory build. Modified front bumper mounts on the back side of fenders to protect fenders if the bumper was hit; strengthened door hinges; replaced wood floor boards with sheet metal; added storage space inside of wide doors; reversed location of interior window cranks and door handles; converted fabric fender welt to metal bead; among other minor changes not even apparent to XK120 experts.
