Nationals leader David Littleproud says the Coalition’s nuclear announcement is about “doing the right thing”.
A News Corp survey has found 60 per cent of Australians believe nuclear power has a place in Australia’s future energy mix.
Opposition leader Peter Dutton announced the Coalition’s nuclear plan last week.
“It’s about doing the right thing by the country, and that’s why we’ve taken this principled position of strong leadership,” Mr Littleproud told Sky News Australia.
“We have to have baseload power – you can’t go to an all-renewables approach if you want to have manufacturing in this country.”
