Steps to recover files from a corrupted USB flash drive using a data recovery software. To restore files:
Step 1: First, download and install Disk Drill, a highly effective data recovery software, which can recover up to 500 megabytes of files for free. Make sure your USB drive is plugged into your PC.
Step 2: Open Disk Drill. Your USB drive should appear in the disk list.
Step 3: Create a byte-to-byte backup of your drive before scanning. This feature, available in Disk Drill, creates an exact mirror image of your drive to a safe location. Navigate to Backup, select your corrupted USB drive, hit Byte-to-Byte backup, choose your save location, give it a name if desired, and hit OK.
Step 4: Once the backup is complete, navigate back to the Disk Drill data recovery panel.
Step 5: Begin the scan by selecting Attach Disk Image, and select the backup file you created. This will be added to the list where you can select your recovery method, and hit Search for Lost Data.
Step 6: Once the scan is complete, navigate through the files found during the scan. You can search by file name or extension. Mark the files you wish to recover, hit Recover, and choose your save location.
Note: Never export the files you are trying to recover to the same USB drive. This risks overwriting the files you wish to recover.
