Chennai experienced heavy rainfall on Thursday, December 30. According to popular weather blogger Pradeep John, there was an unprecedented amount of rainfall in some areas, including Nungambakkam and Mambalam, which received over 100 mm in a short span of time. The rain was particularly hard in areas close to the coast.
