This is the only flaw I've found with the Ugly Stik Dock Runner. Most reels have a small screw to keep the nut from loosening, but honestly, this is only the second time in two years it's loosened up while fishing. A small dab of thread lock may work, but I haven't tried it yet. This rod has been used pretty heavily over the last two years and still functions flawlessly!
