Here's an update on the (private land next to the) Shawnee National Forest, located in Southern Illinois. In this video, I'll show you the latest photos of the project 291 trail cam survey, and discuss some of the reasons why this land is a great investment.

This was a very cool and exciting life adventure! Join us in the field for a family friendly and fun life adventure down here in Southern Illinois as we take our 3rd look at the 291 acre Southern Illinois property that we are purchasing, mostly sight unseen! Today will be a fun adventure as Sharon and I, and Curtis Rogers, continue to explore this 291 acre Southern Illinois property, and this is the 2nd time that Sharon will step foot on this property, and get to explore it a little more in-depth! Today we'll be meeting Curtis and he is going to bring his older Polaris Ranger Crew because I am missing a trailer hitch part so I can't tow my small trailer, otherwise I would bring out my Polaris Ranger Northstar Ultimate. HOWEVER, as you will see, I am very glad that I was not able to bring my 22 Northstar on this adventure!

Due to a severe ice storm, there were literally dozens of downed trees across the trail, and after we got tired of chain sawing them we just started running them over with Curtis' Polaris Ranger! During our explorations today we'll explore a section of hardwoods deep in the property where the property borders a very remote section of the Shawnee National forest on 2 sides. We'll also pay attention to the hardwood trees to decide if we want to consider having this property logged or not, prior to selling it. We'll explore several beautiful creeks that run through the property, some fantastic ridges, cedar thickets, hardwoods, and TONS of deer sign! Also we will check the trail cams that we set up about a week ago to see what kind of wildlife we might capture and if there are any big bucks that are frequenting the area! Most of the trail is so overgrown that we'll need a chainsaw to open areas of the old trail system. Our overall plan for this Project 291 will be revealed later on in the series, but it is an investment property and the goal is to make some income, by using our bobcat e42 r2 series mini excavator, out bobcat T650 CTL skid steer and Kioti tractor to make the improvements that neglected property needs in order to sell it. We'll be making a new road system, some camper/cabin site clearings, food plot clearings, some watering ponds and other machine work to improve it to a near turn key, beautiful Southern Illinois deer hunting or recreation property.
