In Local Space method of locational astrology we are dealing with directions in which the planets were seen from the place of birth at the moment of birth. Those directions stay with us for the whole life, and we can follow them to find experiences related to the planets. For example, to find love, we might decide to follow the direction of Venus, to find good luck — the direction of Jupiter. But this, I will be telling you again and again, is a superficial approach. Because if your natal Venus is problematic then following its line you might find love, yes, but of a kind that might create for you too many problems.
Still, this is how Local Space is often used, it can show you some special directions in the world, or, on a smaller scale, in your town. When deciding to which supermarket to go for shopping you might not want to go to the one on your line of Saturn. Chances are, you won't find many good things there. You'll probably prefer the one on the line of the Moon. Or, if you are looking for something nice or tasty, you'll follow the line of Venus. The line of Mercury is good for your studies, or for buying computers and gadgets, and so on.
You can even overlay those planetary directions on the plan of your house or apartment and decide where to have your bedroom, and what is the best place for your study, if you have that freedom in planning your living space. Which few people have, I'd say.
These are the applications that, many people think, are typical for Local Space. But for me, they are only a tiny fraction of what this method can do for us.
The main and the most important tool of Local Space is this strange looking chart, a Local Space chart. It is similar to the traditional natal or relocation chart, but it offers to us opportunities that are simply unavailable in the other methods of locational astrology. In the Local Space course, we'll be learning to read this chart, and you'll see that aspects are being transformed in the Local Space chart, and that transformation can open for us a unique and highly relevant understanding of the potential of the location. It can also help us to understand the difference in our experiences in the cities that are too close to each other for the other methods of locational astrology, like Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland, there's only 42 miles between them.
This method, as well as the one we are going to discuss in the next lesson, opens for us new opportunities in synastry. We can clearly see how different locations can influence relationships, but that is a topic of a separate course, Locational Synastry.
