JUDGES CONFERENCE: CJN URGES JUSTICES TO RENDER JUSTICE IMPARTIALLY

Justices have been urged to render justice impartially and efficiently as a capacity in the art and skill of judging, while carrying out their duties with integrity and a deep sense of responsibility. The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun said this while declaring open the 3rd Edition of the Annual National Conference on Judges’ Performance Evaluation at the National judicial institute in Abuja.

Justice Kekere-Ekun harped on the theme of the event; JudgeCraft, Performance, and the Way Forward, noting the need to strive for mastery and excellence in the craft as justices, to enhancing the effectiveness and integrity of the judicial system.

Justice Sidi Muhammad who is the chairman of the National Judicial Council, Performance Evaluation Committee however noted the non-tolerance by the committee of repeated acts of non-performance due to indolence, nonchalance or impunity by any Judicial Officer.


The one-day conference is expected to aid Justice improve in thier Performance metrics which should not merely be about speed but also about the quality and impact of their decisions.
