Wooh !! its 4 for Nissan Magnite 😍.The Magnite was recently subjected to its first crash test. The first crash test of the sub-4m SUV was conducted by the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP).
ASEAN NCAP is the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asia established by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) and Global New Car Assessment Program (Global NCAP) upon a collaborative MoU signed by both parties during the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) Foundation Annual General Assembly in New Delhi, India on 7 December 2011.
According to ASEAN NCAP Website " The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) had recently performed an assessment on the model Nissan Magnite, the second assessed model under the Nissan brand in year 2020. Based on the overall score, ASEAN NCAP is pleased to announce that the new Nissan Magnite had successfully obtained 4-Star ASEAN NCAP rating in the assessment. Details of the results will be released soon." Nissan is yet to start the export of the Magnite to foreign markets. Also, the Magnite is currently only made in Nissan’s Indian plant. It is highly likely that it is an India-spec product however, there is confirmation for the same.The Nissan Magnite is the most affordable car in the segment and is priced below the Kia Sonet and Hyundai venue.

Now this brings us a question " What is the main difference between Global NCAP and ASEAN NCAP"

Every NCAP as different criteria of testing which can vary from different speeds to different parts of the car tested.Global NCAP tests front offset crashes only. This means what would happen to a car if it were to crash into another car head-on.ASEAN NCAP on the other side , use stringent testing to ensure the safety of the cars. Clearing the lateral impact test at a speed of 64 km/hr is required to proceed to other stages of testing. They also check if a car is equipped with safety features or not and rating is affected by the presence or absence of said features.

Nissan Magnite was launched in the month of December in the highly competitive sub-4m compact SUV segment. The company launched the car at an introductory entry price of ₹4.99 lakh. However, the prices have been revised from 1 January. The company will now start the price of the new Nissan Magnite at ₹5.54 lakh.The Magnite is available in a wide range of variants in the Indian market. It is only available with two engine options and both of them are petrol. The less powerful variants get the 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 72 PS and peak torque of 96 Nm. This engine option is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission. Nissan also offers a more powerful 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It generates a maximum power of 100 PS and a peak torque of 160 Nm. This engine option is available with all the variants except for the base version. It offers a five-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission.
