Is Nikka From the Barrel a good whiskey? Let's find out!

While it might be suspected that Nikka from the Barrel is not 100% Japanese whisky, it is 100% a staple of the Japanese whiskey scene. When we lived in Japan, this was always a staple on our shelves as it's a great little whiskey which packs a bit of a punch!

Coming in at 51.4% ABV, it delivers a nice amount of weight in the glass. It doesn't have an age-statement, or much detail about what went into the blend, as it is meant to be something you enjoy as a daily drinker whiskey.

Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Sweet honey with a strong sherry influence coming out of the glass, with some citrus, apple and blueberry highlighting a subtle earthy note of peat

Palate:
The peat smoke is more apparent on the palate, but not overpowering, allowing some sweet vanilla and more of the fruity sherry influence to rise up

Finish
The finish is a little dry, but still sweet with a small touch of oak coming through at the end
