David Cotton of Bridge Farm reviews his time as a strategic dairy farmer and explores how he has reduced the carbon footprint of the farm while developing a profitable dairy farming business.
The reduction in carbon emissions is embedded in government policy and increasingly in the minds of the consumers who have more choice than ever. Many processors are now beginning to track the carbon footprints of their producers using a number of different tools. You’ll see examples of the changes made at Bridge Farm and will be able to analyse and discuss how management decision have impacted the carbon emission on David’s Farm.
Liz Bowles, CEO of Farm Carbon Toolkit, also discusses greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture and how the farming sector can minimise its carbon emissions and maximise its carbon sequestration, whilst producing quality food.
The webinar covers:
• Why we are in such a powerful position as farmers
• How carbon foot printing can be a positive tool for farmers to use
• The similarities between the main carbon foot printing tools
• The ethics of carbon offset
• Examples of where improvements in carbon management have increased profitability.
• The role of biodiversity and the wider environment.
