The Lost Village of Acebuchal is a great place to visit. You can walk, cycle or drive.

It sits between Competa and Frigiliana and though it’s slightly nearer to Frigiliana it falls under Competa jurisdiction.

Villagers were forced down the village during the Spanish Civil War and the village stood abandoned. In 1988, Antonio a son of one of the former villagers returned and started to rebuild the village. A humungous task as the village had no water or electricity until 2003.

They bake delicious fresh bread every day, rosemary, raising, beetroot bread - they make their own meats and cheeses and cook delicious rustic food. It’s a must-visit if you’re in the area.
