Dear Friends, it's been a long time since I took a video in English. I felt I had to do this sheep breed of Kangal. The reason is that many breeds of Europe have been imported to Turkey, and many of these animals had difficulty to survive. So I decided to look deeper in to Turkish sheep breeds. Believe it or not there are 44 sheep breeds in Turkey. Many breeds were also migrated from Anatolian lands to many different continents. Kangal is infact a very old and pure blood sheep. It is a variety of Akkaraman which is another sheep breed adn the population this breed is about 7 million. Kangal is about 350,000. Kangal is a very efficient breed. Lambs grow on mothers milk at 330gr live weight per day. Mothers eat rough raughage and still feed the lamb. These animal have never been look on high quality hay and crops. If done so that means daily gain could go up to 500gr which already has been proved. These sheep can graze all year around in hot or cold wether. Very tough. Dear Friends I was born in Istanbul. After graduating from high school in Istanbul, moved to England. I study in Royal Berkshire College of Agriculture. But I relised that Turkish pastures are better for sheep and goat. I have been working with these animal for the last 12 years. I trying to teach people the thumb rules of farming, pragtical farming, rationing, farm designs, the breeds, farm management pragtices, sheep management etc. I also take video and visit farms for advising.
