As the European Union continues its ambitious journey towards a green transition, the Lisbon Council convened the online roundtable A Diamond in the Rough: How Energy Consumption Data Can Boost AI Startups and Accelerate the Green Transition.
Jack Miller, energy efficiency policy analyst at the International Energy Agency and co-author of Why AI and Energy are the New Power Couple, presented key insights into the role of data in advancing energy systems. Henrik Brink, founder and CEO of Ento, discussed how his company leverages energy consumption data to drive energy efficiency and lower costs. Eloi Fàbrega Ferrer, data programme manager and product owner at Flexidao, shared experiences and success stories from their innovative approaches to energy data management. Nate Kinsey, vice president for external affairs at UtilityAPI, provided valuable perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in accessing and utilising utility data.
Stavros Stamatoukos, policy officer at the directorate-general for energy of the European Commission, concluded the session with closing remarks, highlighting the importance of digitalisation and data in the energy sector and addressing policy recommendations.
