Hey Guys! Many of you have noticed that I talk a lot about restraint, enduring and other topics that sound like a lot of work and little joy.
While it is true that I emphasize those things as the work has to happen first, the IS a lot of joy on the path and it is absolutely fundamental.
Without joy, it is not the Dhamma.
That said, joy is not equal to joy and there are MANY false friends out there that only present themselves as the Joy of the Dhamma but are worldly in nature.
Worldly and transcendental joy are easy to mix up.
All Suttas can be (mis-)understood in both ways and still seem to make sense.
Jhana is apart from all intentions, striving, and goals in the sensual domain.
If your joy is not felt "detached" it is not the joy of the Path.
Jhana is relief and gets more and more neutral.
