To calibrate a thermometer, you need a beaker of ice in water and a beaker of water at boiling point. Put the thermometer in the ice beaker, wait 3 minutes, and put a mark at the height of the liquid column. Repeat this, but in a beaker of water at boiling point. Now that you have two marks on your blank thermometer, measure the distance between the two points. Divide this by 10, marking out 10 divisions between the two points. Label these points in increment of 10 degree Celsius.
