Link in bio to download all my diagrams. This system has been around for quite awhile. I learned the basics of it from Marty Schwartz over 10 years ago…then I turned it into the idea of the 2-3 and 3-2 patterns. Amazingly effective for the beginner and intermediate guitarists.
This is a demonstration. This isn’t how I would practice scales. The moment that you understand and can see the structure of a scale, you gotta stop practicing it up and down! It’s totally useless to “master scales” in that way. Nobody wants to hear you play scales up and down and it’s not going to make you better at improvising or composing. Once you know it, start putting it to use and become creative with it! Apply hammerons, pulloffs, slides, bends and vibrato. Play the scale over a backing track and work on making more music out of small chunks. Listen to the greats and make note on how the get the most out of scales. Scales are the right notes…but they sound boring if you don’t add some flavor. Enjoy your practice!
